My Tours: Pac West Tour 2005 - Research

Ever since I came up with the wild idea last year of riding my bike across the country I've been wanting to go tour somewhere, anywhere I've got all the equipment I just need to go.  I don't have enough vacation time built up to take two months off, but I do have enough time to take little trips here and there.  So I came up with a plan to combine a family trip with my very own little tour.

Last year some very good friends of ours gave us an open ended invitation to come up to there vacation home in Fort Bragg, CA.  We took them up on their offer and went north over Labor Day weekend during 2004.  Fort Bragg is a beautiful place to be and is right on the Pacific Coast Bicycle Route.  I live here in Roseville, CA which is not far from the Cross Country Western Express Route.  So I figured we could go up there again this Labor Day weekend in 2005 and then I could just ride my bike home.  Once again our dear friends have allowed us to go up there Labor Day this September. So I've come up with a little tour that I'll call the Pac West Tour.

Last year I decided to buy the maps for my area from Adventure Cycling Association in case I ever got the urge to try something local.  I'm glad I did because now I'm going to try them out.

I've planned out that it will take me 4 days to get from Fort Bragg to Roseville.  It will be approximately 75 miles per day.  I know I can't do that right now, but by that time I will be well trained and ready to go.
