Sunday 07/20/08 - Redondo - Rest Day

I slept well. I don't remember waking up much which was nice. I'd rather just sleep the whole night through. It was about 8:30 am when I finally woke up. I got up and went to the kitchen and found Connie cooking up breakfast. I sat and read the paper as we talked. Breakfast was bacon, eggs, and toast.  Very good and a nice change from Oatmeal each day. Around 10:30 am Steve finally decided to get up and join us for breakfast. I think he needed the rest day more than I did. After breakfast I sat there and talked with Connie getting to know her and her new found love for genealogy. 

After breakfast I dressed for the day and decided to do some maintenance on the bike. The first thing I needed to do was change the back tire I had bought the previous day. One flat is one too many for me. After changing the tire, going over the chain, and making some minor adjustments the bike was ready for the rest of the tour. Next we decided to run a few errands around town. I was in need of another gas cartridge for my cooking stove and a few more groceries. We ended up at Wal-Mart but no luck there for the gas cartridge, so we headed over to the Sports Chalet where they had what I was looking for. 

Later that afternoon I was able to get together with Justin and Jen, good friends, from back home. Justin was on a job rotation in Redondo and we had made plans for dinner. They weren't too far from where we were at with Connie so it worked out great. Justin came and picked us up and we headed over to his place for the evening. It was a nice dinner and fun catching up on things he was involved with. Jen was enjoying the area by going to the beach each day.  Hopefully soon they'll be rotating back home.

Back at Connie's we started the nightly routine of getting ready for the next day. After that was done I decided to watch a bit of the Tour de France while I got caught up on the journal pages. By about 10:30 it was time to call it quits for the day.
